Perimeter surveillance succeeds when it answers practical questions: Who entered? From where? In what vehicle? At what time? Wide shots feel reassuring, but control-point coverage is where investigations are won.
Coverage zones that matter most
- Primary and secondary gates (entry/exit lanes)
- Bin staging zones and pickup points
- Perimeter corners where lighting drops off
- Egress routes and road junctions within line-of-sight
Evidence rule
If you can’t read a plate or distinguish a vehicle in typical nighttime conditions, the camera placement or lighting plan needs adjustment.
Retention and timestamp accuracy are equally important. Align retention to reconciliation cadence and ensure time synchronization across recorders and cameras.
